Interning with ARTH

ARTH provides a wide range of opportunities to young people to learn while contributing to the organisation’s work. Internships are offered in the variety of work that the organization does in the area of health (reproductive, maternal and child health)-research, training, field level interventions and policy advocacy.

Eligibility criteria

Candidates should have a minimum qualification equivalent to graduation and be interested in working on issues related to health. Prior exposure to health issues during the course of studying or working would be an added advantage. Candidates with background in bio-medicine, medicine, nursing, public health and related fields are encouraged to apply. Working knowledge of English and/or Hindi are a pre-requisite.

Programme structure

Each candidate’s internship would be structured according to her/his qualification, interests and past work experience, if any. However, a typical internship would involve:

Orientation to the organization and its work.
Field visits or extended field stay to get a better understanding of the context in which the organization is working.
Allotting specific assignment/s to the intern according to the intern’s interests and ability as well as the organisation’s requirement at that point of time.
Regular review of the intern’s work progress

During the course of internship the candidate shall be assigned a mentor who will ensure that the internship period is meaningful for both the candidate and the organization.

Programme Highlights

ARTH provides a friendly and stimulating environment in which the interns would be able to sharpen their understanding of the development sector as well as enjoy the freedom to explore their own strengths. For interns volunteering for more than 6 months, visits may be arranged to other organizations/institutions to give exposure to the work being done by others on health as well as other issues, if the interns so desire. Udaipur provides ample opportunity to unwind and enjoy the beauty of the historical city of lakes.

Duration of internship

Internship may range from a minimum period of 12 weeks to a maximum of 52 weeks.

Logistics

Accommodation with meals will be arranged for an intern. Typical living arrangements would involve stay with a local family, unless the intern prefers to stay independently. Work related travel will be taken care of by us. (Organization will not be able to provide travel support to overseas candidates)
